Gum Disease and Treatment
Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that focuses on gum health and the supporting structures of the teeth. At Jyotika Dental, our goal is to prevent, diagnose, and treat gum problems, whether they cause discomfort, cosmetic concerns, or risk to your overall oral health.

Why Gum Health Matters
Gum disease can progress silently, much like heart disease, potentially leading to jawbone issues or tooth loss if left untreated. Early diagnosis and patient education are key to preventing serious complications. Regular periodontal evaluations are essential to maintain a healthy smile and strong jawbone.
Signs You Should See a Periodontist
- Red, inflamed, or swollen gums
- Gums pulling away from teeth
- Pus around the gums
- Gums that bleed easily during brushing
- Loose or shifting teeth
- Persistent bad breath
Who Is at Higher Risk?
- Individuals with poor oral hygiene or irregular dental cleanings
- Smokers or tobacco users
- Family history of gum disease
- Patients with diabetes, immune disorders, or certain systemic conditions
- Diets high in sugar and low in vitamins
Between 2009–2010, nearly 47% of adults over 30 had untreated periodontal disease, highlighting the importance of regular gum care.
At Jyotika Dental, we provide expert periodontal care to protect your gums, maintain jawbone health, and ensure a confident, healthy smile.
